The great Barbie movie list includes films like Barbie as Rapunzel, Barbie and the Diamond Castle, Barbie: A Fashion Fairytale, and much more. If you’re a fan of the iconic doll or if you don’t yet own a Barbie toy, you’ll enjoy these reviews for all the most fun, colorful and fashionable movies to come out this year.

This year, Barbie will get her own movie. The film will be directed by Alethea Jones and based on a script written by Jenny Bicks. It stars Margot Robbie as the titular doll, who has been living in Barbieland since she was created over 70 years ago; Ryan Gosling plays her boyfriend Adam Kenworth, who just might be too good for Barbie but loves her anyway; Christina Aguilera plays Lu Lu Pickles—the only one who can understand what it means when you say “hi” instead of “hi”; and Mattel CEO Brian Goldner plays himself as he tries desperately not to let anyone know how excited he is about this whole thing happening because otherwise, they’ll think he’s crazy!

The film is scheduled for release in 2023, and Alethea Jones will direct it. The movie was written by Jenny Bicks, Produced by Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach (who also acted in the show), the production team behind this one includes writer/director Noah Baumbach and actress/producer Greta Gerwig. It’s based on a script that Jenny Bicks wrote back when she worked at Universal Studios at their theme park division – which makes sense since the film takes place inside of an amusement park! The plot of the movie has not been revealed, but Deadline suggests that it will center on Barbie’s world.
